Tim Ferris has just four Big Rules for losing 20 lbs. of fat in 30 days without any exercise:
1. Avoid "white" carbohydrates. In case you are wondering, that's: bread, rice, cereal, potatoes, pasta, and fried food with breading.
2. Eat the same few meals over and over. Tim's favorite simple meals, repeated over and over, consist of one food from each of the following three groups per meal.
Proteins:
Egg whites with one whole egg for flavor
Chicken breast or thigh
Grass-fed organic beef
Pork
Legumes:
Lentils
Black beans
Pinto beans
Vegetables:
Spinach
Asparagus
Peas
Mixed vegetables
3. Don't drink calories. Drink water not fruit juice, regular iced tea not sweet tea, black coffee or coffee with non-fat milk. Avoid alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, juices. Remember, sugar is one of the "white" foods to avoid when you want to lose weight. Also add high fructose corn syrup to that list of Foods to Avoid.
4. Take one day off per week. Give your psyche and your body a break. Eat what you want. Pig out, even.
Tim's results: "In the last six weeks, I have cut from about 180 lbs. to 165 lbs., while adding about 10 lbs. of muscle, which means I’ve lost about 25 lbs. of fat."
Tim calls this eating plan, Fat Loss Via Better Science and Simplicity, modeled on "a variation of the “slow carb” diet as used by Dean Karnazes, an ultramarathoner famed for completing 50 marathons on 50 consecutive days in 50 different states."
